With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s not too early to start thinking of something fun and unique for a special date night. Denver is full of places to celebrate love, whether you’re looking for a cozy night out or an evening designed to wow your special someone.
Head Downtown for Ice Skating and Cocktails
Valentine’s Day is the last day to strap on your skates at the Downtown Denver Rink at Skyline Park. You can skate (or fall!) hand in hand with your sweetheart from 11 AM-6 PM that day — a perfect way to start a romantic evening. When you’re done on the ice, walk over to Green Russell for craft cocktails and upscale bar food. This underground speakeasy limits party sizes and cell phone use, so it’s ideal for date night.
Dinner and Drinks at the Denver Aquarium
Perfect for ocean lovers, The Dive Lounge at the Denver Aquarium is a fun way to enjoy happy hour surrounded by tropical fish and marine life. Whether you enjoy tacos or sliders at the bar for dinner or head to the main restaurant to enjoy floor-to-ceiling views of the aquarium, your valentine is sure to enjoy this unique adventure.
Cooking with Cupid at Cook Street
For a real splurge, try Cooking with Cupid: a hands-on class for experienced home cooks and kitchen newbies alike. The chefs at Cook Street School of Culinary Arts will guide you through the preparation of a sumptuous Valentine’s meal while you enjoy antipasti and house-baked bread. At the end of class, you and your date will feast on the meal you made and pop a bottle of bubbly. A good note for ladies: you’ll be on your feet for most of the class, so make sure you wear comfy shoes.
A Daytrip to Loveland Fire and Ice
If you’re looking for more adventure or want to celebrate with the whole family the weekend before Valentine’s Day, plan a trip to Loveland for the Fire & Ice Festival. This three-day event is filled with the creation of ice and fire sculptures, but it also includes live entertainment, culinary arts, breweries and wineries, and fireworks at night. Loveland is just an hour or so away from TAVA Waters—perfect for a fun (and romantic!) daytrip.
Say “I Do” at the Clerk and Recorder’s Office
For couples ready to take the plunge, judges and clergy will be performing free marriage ceremonies at Clerk and Recorder Debra Johnson’s office (marriage licenses are $30)! This is the 11th year this Valentine’s Day Event has been going on, so it’s sure to be another success. From 8 AM-4:30 PM there will be food and beverages for the couples saying “I Do,” as well as drawings for gifts from local businesses and city agencies. If you want to make it official but are happy to skip all the wedding planning, you can make this Valentine’s Day one you’ll never forget.
However you celebrate this Valentine’s Day, you’re close to all that Denver has to offer when you LiveTAVA.
