TAVA's Top 5 Favorite Breweries
There’s not much better than slinging back a cold one with friends on a warm summer day. Lucky for us, the Denver beer scene is nothing short of plentiful – flowing with opportunities to enjoy a quality, local brew. Grab a friend and go check out our five go-to breweries:
1) Great Divide Brewing Company
Take a sip of craft brew history at Great Divide Brewing Company. As one of the first independent breweries in Denver, they continue to break new barriers in the beer industry over and over again. From year-round favorites to seasonal six packs, these cheekily-named brews are the perfect cure for the end of a workday or celebrating the come of the weekend. Enjoy a free 30-minute tour, then grab a bite to eat along with your favorite beer at one of the local food trucks available on a rotating schedule.
2) Trve Brewing Company
This edgy, heavy metal-inspired brewery is known to color outside of the lines. From their hardcore vibes to their super flavorful beers, it’s easy to say that visiting Trve Brewing Company will be unlike anything you’ve ever experienced. Metalhead or not, it’s the beer you are sure to appreciate. Each new beer is thoughtfully crafted, sometimes using extinct styles of brewing just to get the exact flavor they looking for. However, these unique flavors – like a sour brown ale – aren’t just found anywhere. In 2015 they only brewed 350 barrels, 340 of which were served in their tap room. So if you have the chance to experience all that Trve is serving up, we suggest you do!
3) Bull & Bush Brewery
Denver-natives know that Bull & Bush and their award-winning beer is a town classic. Originating as a friendly neighborhood restaurant in 1971, their “everybody’s welcome” environment immediately grew in popularity. Finally, the brewery was introduced in 1997 along with their world-changing and innovative creations. If you’re looking for a good time, great live performances, and delicious beer backdropped by British pub vibes, this is the spot to be. Cheers, mate!
4) Dry Dock Brewing Company
While not actually located within the city limits of Denver, we couldn’t leave out the Aurora-based Dry Dock Brewing Company from our list. You are in for a one-of-a-kind experience when you set foot into one of the state’s most award-winning breweries. From the classic Home Fleet to the unique Funk N’ Sour Series, take your taste buds for the ride of a lifetime as you indulge in their thoughtfully handcrafted brews.
5) Crooked Stave
The rustic ambiance of Crooked Stave is definitely a stand-out feature of the brewery, but only second to their sour barrel-aged beers that truly push the envelope. While most breweries use Sours as their experimental or one-off beer, these guys have chosen to focus on and perfect the style. Take a break from your regular wanderlust activities and head over to Crooked Stave for an adventure like no other.
