Best Spring Hikes near Cherry Creek


Cool breezes, fresh air, and sunshine. When you live at TAVA Waters, the outdoors is always within reach. Our location in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver, CO, is perfect for those seeking a quick and easy escape into the wilderness. Whether you want to stay near or are willing to make the drive into the foothills, there is a hiking trail nearby to satisfy your craving for adventure.

Cherry Creek State Park

Distance from TAVA: 6.9 miles

Let’s start with the obvious choice: Cherry Creek State Park. Considered Denver’s very own backyard playground, the park is home to 22 unique nature trails. Bring your dog for a hike on the 2.81 miles 12 Mile Trail. You can break up your hike with a stop in at the off-leash dog park or a picnic at the intersection of Beaver Pond Trail. For those that prefer a more challenging hike, 7.79 miles of the popular Cherry Creek Trail runs through the park along Cherry Creek Reservoir. Enjoy a relaxing stroll atop Cherry Creek Dam and then ramp up for the run along the lakeside.   

Chatfield State Park

Distance from TAVA: 31.5 miles

Although a bit further from home, Chatfield State Park is the quiet escape you need to get out of the city fast. Home to the beautiful Chatfield Reservoir, you can do much more than just hike here. Set up camp at C Loop of Chatfield State Park Campground and then hit Chatfield Internal Trail for a 10-mile hike around the lake. When you’re done, you can walk from the campground to Living The Dream Brewing on N Dumont Way, just off Santa Fe Drive, for a crowler of Belgian Quad. 

Mt Falcon Hiking Trail

Distance from TAVA: 22.2 miles

When you need a break from the grind of daily life, Mount Falcon Castle Trail near Morrison offers a convenient retreat. This 7.9 miles out and back trail is located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, making it a great place to disconnect for a day and enjoy breathtaking views of downtown Denver and Red Rocks. It does get fairly congested on the weekends, so make sure you head out early to beat the crowds.
