With the fall months rolling in, it’s a good time to go through your closet and see what clothes you don’t wear anymore because of style, fit, color, or whatever reason. All of us have clothes we haven’t worn in years. You know someone out there can give them more use than you can, especially with the lower temperatures that are coming. At TAVA Waters, we thought a little good could come from re-organizing your closet this year. Here are three places to donate your old seasonal clothes.
1) Denver Rescue Mission
This nonprofit organization works hard every day to help people who suffer from homelessness or addiction. Donors and volunteers are vital to the organization. Providing weather-appropriate clothing is one of the many ways Denver Rescue Mission helps people in need get back on their feet. There are many reasons people end up on the streets. Everyone has a different story, but all of them need a little help to find a purpose in their life. The shelter, on 6100 Smith Road, helps people of every age every day, and you can go there to donate the clothes you no longer use or even send in clothes by mail.
2) The Gathering Place
Located in metropolitan Denver is The Gathering Place, in their words “a refuge for rebuilding lives.” With more than 30 years of experience, this organization works with thousands of members every year and emphasizes the importance of community support. Volunteers and donors make a difference by helping The Gathering Place help others. They don’t charge fees and they serve everyone. The Gathering Place is the only daytime drop-in center in the area that works with women, their children, and transgender individuals experiencing all kind of difficulties.
3) Dress For Success
Our first two options were local organizations that we love to support. Dress for Success, a worldwide organization with a Denver chapter, is also worthy of your support. Nobody does a better job explaining their mission than they do: “an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.” Have some work clothes that you don’t need anymore? Pass them along to a successful woman in the making.
Bonus: Pick Up Please!
Here is an extra option for those who don’t have the time to go to a place to drop off a bag of clothes. Pick Up Please has an easy and convenient way to donate in just three steps. You just need to visit their website and schedule a time for the pickup. Donating has never been easier!
We’d love to hear about how you help others. At TAVA Waters, we’re always looking for new ways to give back to the city. Be part of an apartment community that cares about you. Get in touch with our team and schedule a visit of TAVA Waters today!
